I just spent a few minutes and read my posts from the class I took. I really sound like I was totally clueless. Although I feel much more with it as far as new technology goes. I now have a Facebook account that I regularly go to. I have a blog at work that I try to post to weekly. Lastly, I just signed up for Passpack, an online password manager. I think even my daughter would say I am pretty with it ----- for someone my age!!!!!

Week #11-12 Wrap-up

I have one thought that keeps reoccurring in my mind, 'This is not the end but only the beginning!'. I feel like I have so much more to explore, to examine, and to engage in, that I see no end in sight. I am a dreamer, I have a need to dream to see the way. The way of anything. I am not a quick thinker sometimes I'm the one who says aha in the bathroom while brushing my teeth or as I lay in bed or as I rise in the morning. If someone asked me what was the one thing I learned about because of Project Play, I would have to say it is to never stop dreaming. That is the only way for me to see the possibilities. And possibilities are only one step away from things happening. Curiosity is the vision of a dream and where it will go. I love it all, the thought, the plan, the ride and the completion. The only thing I might not like about this process, is that any phase might be over, but there is always a new one.

Week #10 Mashups

Well, here is my mashup! Although I didn't know it was a mashup when I made it!!! I really enjoyed making it. I have been spending more time playing around and I am just loving it. There are so many possibilities for the use of all I have learned. More than I learned on Learning 2.0! I am so glad I have done this it really has made a difference. Well, I just looked at my post and discovered the screen shot I did of my IGoogle shows I lost a game of hangman!!! Sometimes they are words I never heard of before this time I was thinking much harder. :)

Thank you to all of you who worked so hard on this project.

Week #9 Utube

Now this was truly fun and interesting. I spent far too much time looking at screen casts, I lost all track of time. I feel that there is a place for the use of these as a library advertising tool. Maybe, we could include one on the web site. But I have to figure out how I would record it and of course the time it would take to plan and execute the production.
This was one of my favorite YouTube videos
I can't imagine having that many plain covered books in our library. but it would be fun to try it any way. You know that might make a fun teen project sometime!

I really liked the textures of these, don't know what they are, but it sure looks cool!

This one was great, I felt that it got better as it went along.
Last but not least-------------------------------

Well, have you seen enough, if not go to youtube and type in dominoes!!!!!!!!

Week #8 Screencasting

I think that the best part of this learning experience was playing with the screen casting software. My only problem was my mic wouldn't work, it works for my Skype account, so I'm not sure what the problem was.

Week #6 Podcasts (Gabcasts)

I was totally amazed, by how simple podcasting is to do. I can see where it might be fun plus helpful to use this on my new website. I also like the fact that you talk to us throughout this course. It made it seem a little more personal and give us an overview of what is to come. Thank you.

Week #5 Social Networking 2

This lesson was not what I thought it was going to be, Facebook is very interesting and different then the social network that I already belong to. "Stumbleupon". This one is much more social and seems to have more to play with and enjoy.

I just took a break from this and found my husband watching a movie called "I, Robot". The robots looked something like these guys I found, sort of eerie don't you think? They initially made me think of all the people on the net like non-descriptive people.

Week #5 Social Networking 1

I really like the idea of using a social network in conjunction with the library, but in reality I don't think it would be possible. With a small library most of our service right now is face-to-face. We just don't have the time to sit at a computer and dealing with the incoming questions, besides helping those who walk in the door.

Then again, if things are moving in that direction, we would really be doing a disservice to ourselves if we didn't try to reach those few people who may need the service on line. We may make some new connections that we would have never made before, and they may keep us open serving more people in a more varied way in the long run. It's one of those situations where you may never know how it will affect you. I like to try and keep our options open.

With the introduction of our new web site, I will consider using some sort of social network, after I have considered how it will effect the library staff and the time it takes to implement, maintain, and respond to it.

Week #4 Reflections

As I look back on this whole experience, Project Play that is, I am starting to feel my age. Not in my bones or muscles but in the way my life relates to others around me. I have a disjointed feeling of how things are passing me by, as if I were in slow motion. Well, I am not going to let that stop or deter me from my goal to understand, learn, and do more in this fast paced society. I am thoroughly loving the challenge, and am looking forward to every lesson I can learn. TADA!!!

Week #3 Remember the Milk/Jott

Well, now this was an interesting experience. I have always thought I should have a secretary, well now I can have one for free. LOL I feel like I have gone into a whole new phase of my life ever lesson that I go through takes me one more step into the TWILIGHT ZONE! Things may not be what they seem and seem what they may. I think that I can email myself a 'to do' list of things needing attention by me or someone else. Now the true test will be how long will this task of creating a list take? Will it take so much time that it won't be efficient enough for me?

Now calling on a cell phone, that might be the perfect solution for the time element of this situation. I can see myself doing this, but not at work. I probably will still use pencil and paper. Oh, well!!!! Or maybe not..............

Week #2 Google Docs

I can really see the usefulness in using Google Docs. Weekly we post the New York Times Best Seller List. I have a volunteer who formats and emails it to me and I highlight in yellow what we have and in green what titles are on order. Then I save it in a shared folder on the network. I also work on a report for my board and get ideas when I'm at home. If I used these docs I could add what I thought of instead of leaving myself a note or just trying to remember.

I did some of the optional assignment, I made up a calendar in the spreadsheet and one in the document section. Then I downloaded an existing document, the bylaws for our Historical Society, it worked pretty darn slick.

Semester 2 Week #1 IMing!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I could say I am familiar with IM. I have been using it for a long, long, long time. I could even say that I am IM challenged, as well. I only have one small issue--
IM A VERY SLOW TYPER.
-- so I am usually one to two conversations behind my children, my sister and my friends. They just think I am funny because I end up calling and explaining my previous conversations -- they just don't get it!!!!
My sister introduced me to Skype over Christmas. This is much more suited to me because on Skype you can make a regular phone call to another Skype member or call them at home. But everyone needs to have a mic and a speaker. You can also have webcam's as well. Let me tell you this is all coming really fast, but man this is a blast.
