Well, I have been exposed to Wikis before this assignment. I always wondered about authenticity. I was told the other day by a college student that his professor won't allow them to use Wikipedia, that made me feel a little better, at least now I know that those young minds are told that they need to beware of where they get information and that there are other places to get what they need. On the other hand, I do see a positive side to this that maybe most of the people (like me) who post to these, will learn to trust others more. I am striving to be more open and listen to patrons and trust what they say and who they are.
I'm not sure just how my individual library could use a Wiki. I could see a catalogue where people would add there own tags, to help other people search. It's funny thing that I have been telling my help for years to not to give up on a search right away, keep trying until you have exhausted all of the possibilities of where to search.
Here is a link to our library's website, keep your eyes on it it will be changing, soon I hope!

Week #8 Tagging & del.icio.us
I was familiar with tagging before this lesson, but I thought about all it could do for me and others. I also never thought about all the uses for del.icio.us! I can understand Research, what a great way to keep track of all the web sites you would use for reference.
I like the idea of for recipes, but better yet I could use del.icio.us for keeping all my quilting and card making web sites together. I'm not sure that I like the wish list idea though. Maybe a Wiki would work better that way you could have others mark what they have got from your wish list, as long as it wasn't a surprise!!!!

Week # 7 Library Thing
Here is my Library Thing account. I've only just begun, but I feel confident that I will be adding to it on a regular basis. I find that it is very easy to add to the list of titles there are so many places to search and ways to search. I really can't say that I feel that there are any major weaknesses, I have been playing with it for most of the week, and found most things easy to navigate. I also think it is a great idea to swap books. what a great way to get rid of what you don't need and get some you need to read.

Week #6 Image Sharing & Editing
Here is a plant that we received on my birthday and my husband's. Our birthday's are 4 days apart.
Well, this turned out to be a very fun lesson. I really like Flickr. Spell with Flickr is so cool I just had to do my name. I really like this it will be fun to use when I scrapbook.
Flickr would be a great site to use on our new library web page. I can see that it would be a great way to show all our events, and maybe even advertise. I can also see that we will need to get some sort of form for people to sign off on the pictures. I also think it is a good idea to only list first names. I already have an online accounts at Kodak, York, Photo Bucket and Tagworld. with all the experience I have with these sites I have to say they all have draw backs but Flickr seems to be a little tricky to move around in (at least for me). Having said that there are many features that I do like: Sets, descriptions as well as titles, and all the fun tools that they have.
Now this is really strange.

Week #5
Now that I finally figure out Survey Monkey I found that it was fun and could be quite useful. There are many things that I plan in the library and I wonder if they are a good idea or a waste of time. This might be a good thing to do to start out the planning process.
I only asked two questions, but I think maybe more people might respond with less. I know I feel that way! I will be curious to see who does.

Week #4 - Feedback Thingies
Feed back is something I was a little skeptical about I had them open for comments on my 'What's New' blog on my web site. Needless to say I only got computer generated comments, so I had them turned off. The reason I think, after this lesson was said and done, the reason I only had those kind of comments might have been because people didn't really have anything to comment on. Just a boring list of books and their descriptions. I'm not sure I want to change that blog and it's purpose, but I think I will start another blog on my new web page that people can leave comments. And I think it would be great to get feedback on things happening in and around the library, good or bad.
Week #4 - Bloglines
I loved the sloganizer! It came up with quit a few that I really liked for Coloma Public Library ---makes your dreams come true or as good as it gets or (my all time favorite) endless possibilities with the Coloma Public Library.

Week 3 - Project Play
Bloglines - I think I like it better this time around! Tried this once before and felt it was a waste of time. Now I feel that it actually saved time and made reading new posts easy and fun to do. I think I've picked things that are a better reflection of what I actually need and want.

Week 2 - Blogging
Well, I must admit this is not my first time blogging, in fact as you can see I already had this blog. I'm also a 2 year member of Stumbleupon. Which if you would like to check out you may.
http://sandgelic.stumbleupon.com/
I think that blogging is an experience all on it's own it can be fun, exciting, and can be if you let it be very time consuming. I was blown away by just how many different blogs there are. I can easily see someone losing themselves to this world, or maybe finding themselves.
More to come.

Library 2.0 Not my mothers Library...
You know that the Library 2.0 thingy is bigger than all of us. It is what we want as patrons not as librarians we make it what we want and when we want it as well. I think that we will be a formed library serving the patrons needs as they demand them, need them or want them.

Library 2.0 This is a different Place than it was!!!!
Well, this wasn't what I thought libraries would be when I became a librarian but the change is definitely exciting and new!
